Keychains

If any of you have, or know of someone who has a keychain collection, do let me know. I have a bunch I'd be happy to pass on. They're from all over the world.

Garage sale, anyone?

I'm sitting in my home office gazing out the window and bemoaning my once clean patio. All the buildings in the complex got repainted and I'm sooo not impressed with the final product. I've got little puddles of paint near the edge of the patio. We received a one day notice to get the patios cleared off. I received mine while away on the cruise. I returned to paint-speckled plants, door-sign, door mat, etc. Not a happy camper. A week's notice would've been much appreciated. In addition, I've requested a stairwell light be replaced - three times! Has anything happened? NO. I'm really not interested in raising a stink about it, but I miss the previous management company. They'd respond to maintenance requests as quickly as the day is long. Ok...now that all that is out of my system....

I'm also gazing at my one vibrant plant that sits on my computer station. It's very healthy, nice and firm stems, has doubled in growth since I purchased it a couple of months ago. My other plants and I have a love/hate relationship - I love plants, they hate my lack of knowledge in properly caring for them.

This past week, I got two UPS deliveries for a total of 25 boxes - my stuff from California. Ughh!! My living room looks like a rehash of H. Charley. What an absolutely tedious chore to try and figure out 1) why I considered it important before, and 2) do/will I consider it important now/in the future. While most of the boxes comprised of books and plush animals, there's all the stuff from my stints overseas - gifts from my students and the like. I'm leaning towards getting rid of a lot of the stuff - donations to whoever/whatever is closest to my door!

Went to a marsh preserve yesterday. Saw a lot of birds, including a whole group of big, white pelicans. You know, the ones with the scooper bills. I'd never seen a group of them together, at least 15. What else was there? A couple great blue herons, a very large alligator that I woke up, some catfish that a couple people fishing caught, and some more "teenage" alligators. I also fed several scrub jays some peanuts. They'd fly down and alight on my hand or head, depending on where I'd placed the peanuts. Then they'd bury them nearby and come back for more. Greedy 'ol things!

I can't believe this is the last week of February! Lucky for those of you who have tomorrow off. I miss the academic/CA state gov't. calendar. But I try and plan little getaways to various places and create my own holidays.

Time to get back to the mess in the living room...
