Oh, the Many Hats You'll Wear

Well, fortunately for Central Florida, H. Katrina didn't show her menacing face, but at the rate she's going, what she did to southern Florida could potentially look like a dance through the daffodils compared to what she could do to the Big Easy. So, hurricane wise, nothing personal to report so far this season...

I had the opportunity yesterday to be the Tooth Fairy. I was taking a walk through my complex, and this lady approaches me carrying a couple of gift bags packed with various goodies for a young girl. She asked me whether I would be willing to be the Tooth Fairy and place the gift bags at her apartment door. In her hand were several vials of glitter that she wanted to sprinkle around the patio. Her reason for asking a stranger was that she wanted to be inside her place so that her daughter wouldn't suspect that it was her mother who placed the gifts at the door. Of course I agreed :-). I waited a couple of minutes while she glittered the patio, then disappeared inside. I crept up the stairs to the second floor, snuck inside the patio, placed the bags on the doormat, knocked on the door, then took off running down the passageway before anyone opened the door. As I was walking back to the road, I heard this little voice say, "Look Mommy, look what the Tooth Fairy brought me!" Her mother played along with the whole charade by responding, "Wow! Look at all the nice things she brought. Thank you Tooth Fairy, wherever you are!" I kept walking with a big smile on my face. While I don't for a New York minute believe in the Tooth Fairy, hearing the excitement in the little girl's voice is what made it so fun for me!

Today, I spent half the day helping a colleague move. Moving is such a pain in the derriere that I don't hesitate at all when people need help moving. The more hands on deck, the faster (and less painful) the process goes. We started at 8am, but it was already sweltering hot. Needless to say, we weren't the cheeriest bunch of movers.

Pretty quiet on the homefront, hope you're staying well!
